NATURAL METHODS OF PREVENTING HEART DISEASE
Many recent medical research studies indicate that certain natural methods for treating and/or reducing the risk of developing coronary heart disease or coronary artery disease can be very effective. Here are two such highly recommended methods:
1) Switch to a low-fat diet. It is especially important that you cut down on your intake of saturated fats, most commonly found in meat and dairy products. Basically, a healthful low-fat diet requires that you consume less meat, eggs, dairy products and other sources of saturated fats and cholesterol. You should consume more starches and low-fat sources of protein.
2) Replace red meat and dairy products with fish. Studies have shown that the omega-3 oil found in many saltwater fish and some freshwater fish can help raise HDL levels in the blood. The new studies indicate that people who eat lots of cold water fish, such as salmon, trout or cod, tend to have lower rates of coronary heart disease than do other people. This seems to be true even if the amount of fat in the diet stays about the same.
